Stentec offers several different AIS systems. When you fill out this questionnaire you will receive the recommended AIS system according to your answers.

 Length of your ship

What is the length of your ship?

 Length: 20 meters or more.

The length of your ship is 20 meters or more. According to the rules of the Dutch Rijkswaterstaat, you are required to use AIS type A. We do not sell these types of AIS.

Wireless communication via WiFi

You can connect the AIS as standard with a USB cable to your laptop or on-board PC and with a serial connection to your plotter.

It is also possible to opt for an AIS device with WiFi module. This allows you to wirelessly connect the transponder to the laptop, on-board PC, tablet or smartphone. You do not need an internet connection for this.

Do you want to be able to connect your AIS transponder, in addition to a USB and serial connection, via a WiFi connection?


 GPS Antenna

An AIS transponder always needs its own GPS antenna. All our AIS transponders have an internal GPS antenna. The advantage of this internal GPS receiver is that you do not always have to install a separate GPS antenna and draw cables. Do you have a steel ship? Then an external GPS antenna will have to be connected and placed outside because the signal cannot reach the AIS transponder.

Is the internal GPS antenna sufficient or do you also need an external GPS receiver?


 TV Receiver

A TV/radio receiver can be added to a AIS device. The signal is received through the VHF antenna. Connect your onboard radio or TV to the AIS device and listen or watch to your favorite stations Please mind: this option requires a good antenna installation.
