Update DKW UK1 English and Scottish East Coast

The quarterly update for the DKW UK1 English and Scottish East Coast is now available. This gives you the latest depths, buoys and other navigation information. Also ideal for your travels across the North Sea thanks to the large chart of the North Sea that is included.

DKW Rhine & Moselle 2021 edition

The new 2021 edition of DKW Rhine & Moselle is now available. This chart now contains the same colors as other inland waterways charts, giving you an even better view of Europe's inland waterways.
Naturally, the depths, buoys and other navigation information have been updated. Combine this chart with the DKW The Netherlands, the DKW Northern France and the DKW Belgium for the round "Maas - Moselle - Rhine".

Expected soon: New DKW 1811 & 1812

In April we expect the new charts 1811 and 1812 for the Wadden Sea. These provide updated depth information, buoys and other navigation information. As soon as the new charts are available, we will process them and prepare them for you as an update. Download this update for free in WinGPS if you have the 2021 edition of the 1811 and 1812.

In development: Route network in our apps for iOS

Good news for water sports enthusiasts with an iPad or iPhone. Our developers are currently implementing the route network in our apps for iOS. This allows you to view the depth information from the route network in due course and add a navigation waypoint to the route network. This way you can easily and quickly set out a 1-point route on the inland waterways.
 
After this update, more extensive information about bridges and locks will be added and the planning of routes will be further expanded.

Update and test

Before you can set out the journey in WinGPS, it is wise to update both your WinGPS and the digital charts to the latest versions. This way you have the most recent information and you can sail as safely as possible.

We recommend that you always test your laptop and GPS receiver if you have not used it for a long time. A GPS rollover took place in 2019 and as a result some GPS receivers no longer work properly. You may therefore have to switch to a new GPS receiver. View our GPS receivers here.

Have you already upgraded all charts and your WinGPS 5 to the 2020 edition? Then you can download the latest updates in the news center. This also updates the bridges, locks and other objects. This week we released an update for WinGPS 5 Navigator, Pro & Voyager 2021. Below you will find a description of the innovations in this update.
New in WinGPS 5 Navigator 2021
  • Notifications: For example, if an alarm is active or if something is being updated in the background, this will be clearly shown in the top left of the chart screen. This can be set at View > properties > Screen.
  • With a route over the route network, the route information now shows a traffic light at bridges, from which you can easily see whether the bridge must be operated (red), whether you must lower the mast (yellow), or whether you can go under the bridge (green).
New in WinGPS 5 Pro 2021
  • All the above changes.
  • The German Bight tide stations have been added to the program, so you can view the German Bight tides for the whole of 2021 and use them for route planning.
  • While looking ahead in time with the timeline, the predicted position of the vessel on the route is shown in the following mode you have set, for example head-up or course-up. This way you can easily and quickly see where you are at what time while sailing or route planning.
New in WinGPS 5 Voyager 2021
  • All the above changes.
  • Simulation shows predicted route of floating objects. For example a man overboard, a life raft or a boat with engine failure (without sail).
  • The speed of the simulator is now determined on the basis of the speeds set at File > Properties > Ship. The speed can also be obtained from the polar diagram, making simulation with downloaded GRIB files more realistic.
  • Polar diagram can now also be viewed with a look ahead in time when you are editing the route or when you are actively navigating the route.
  • Ability to draw a training boat in polar diagram and chart showing boat position, sails and rudder.

Good news: the 2021 edition of the DKW The Netherlands is now available! We notice that many of you are already preparing for, among other things, the coming Easter weekend, to hopefully be able to get on the water with good weather. We have done our best to get the DKW The Netherlands done extra early, so that you can go on your journeys with the best nautical chart.
Good news: the 2021 edition of the DKW The Netherlands is now available! We notice that many of you are already preparing for, among other things, the coming Easter weekend, to hopefully be able to get on the water with good weather. We have done our best to get the DKW The Netherlands done extra early, so that you can go on your journeys with the best nautical chart.

All inland waterways are included; from the Zeeland waters to the rivers in Limburg and the canoe ditches in Friesland (even from 0.6 meters deep). In combination with the full versions of WinGPS 5 and WinGPS Marine, the DKW The Netherlands is ideal for route planning using the extensive waterway network.
 
   

New in 2021

  • The legend has been expanded. Boundaries of restricted areas, such as nature reserves or anchorages, are now explained. These explanations are now also available in German and French for users of WinGPS with those language setting.
  • Fairway numbers are now no longer labelled in the chart itself, but as a waypoint, so that they do not rotate with the chart and you can disable them in waypoint group management.
  • The database with marinas has been updated: telephone numbers and websites have been added or changed where necessary.
  • In Friesland the new Marrekrite buoys have been added and the most recent depth data has been processed into the chart.
  • The artificial islands in the Sneekermeer, east of the Potten, are now also on the chart.
  • A new shortcut has been constructed at Schateiland in Almere.
  • The coastal development of the IJsselmeer and the Randmeren will continue; the most recent situation at IJburg, Blaricum, Harderwijk, the Markerwadden, the Enkhuizerzand and the Reevediep is now on the chart.
