Pre-release: WinGPS 6 - 2022 

Just before Christmas we sent the first WinGPS 6 version to a select group of users! Hundreds of them have fully tested this 2022 edition. We are pleased with the positive reception and are working on the feedback in the 2023 edition.

What is new in the WinGPS 6 2022 edition: 
  • User-friendly route planner: the 6 version is easy to operate, especially for inland waterway routes.
  • Always up-to-date: always be fully informed. All external information is automatically updated, such as GRIB files, shipping reports, IENC and your DKW charts.
  • Automatic USB GPS recognition: as soon as you plug the USB GPS receiver into the laptop, the connection in WinGPS 6 is set up correctly.
  • Discover the new Route Explorer: view all information about your current or future route in 1 screen. This makes it easy to look ahead and better anticipate obstacles.

The WinGPS users with a Service Card 2022 received WinGPS 6 – 2022 last December. They were the first to try and test this 6 version, after which we received a lot of positive and useful feedback. For example, we will immediately process the following points in the 2023 edition:
  • Route Explorer was stuck on the right side. This comes loose again, so that you can arrange the screen better as you wish.
  • When GPS tracking was on, the map could not be moved even though communication was off. This is being adjusted.
The new 'Navigate to' home screen, for easy and fast route planning.

WinGPS 6 - 2023 edition!

WinGPS 6 will be officially released in the first quarter of this year! In addition to the points mentioned above, what can you expect from the 2023 edition:
  • Touristic routes: In addition to the fastest, shortest and sustainable routes, you can also choose touristic routes in the 2023 edition. This way you avoid waterways with commercial shipping and you can enjoy the quieter waterways. (only for Pro and Voyager)
  • AIS targets: also view the AIS targets that lie on your route in the new route explorer. This way you can anticipate on this in time. (only for Pro and Voyager)
  • Automatic AIS device recognition: as soon as you connect your AIS device to your laptop and WinGPS 6 recognizes the AIS messages, the device will immediately be set up correctly in instrument manager and the AIS objects appear on the chart.
  • Up-to-date throughout 2023: receive all updates for your WinGPS 6 during 2023, such as new/improved functions, changes to the waterway network, bridges and locks, and for Pro & Voyager the new current and tide data.
  • Add-on: extends your WinGPS 6 version with professional functions, such as being able to program your AIS Class A or Inland AIS. Or, for example, opt for our IENC update service, with which you can easily download your IENC charts in WinGPS and keep them updated.

Do you have WinGPS 5 or WinGPS 6-2022? Then you can get WinGPS 6 - 2023 by taking out a Premium Subscription or purchasing the 2023 upgrade separately. See below for more info.

WinGPS 6 is for navigation on a Windows laptop or PC. If you want to navigate on an Android or iOS device, you can use WinGPS Marine for Android or WinGPS Marine for iOS.

Installation WinGPS 6 2022

You can easily download and install the 2022 edition of WinGPS via the Stentec Installer. Your current version of WinGPS 5 will not be overwritten. This way you can compare the versions and transfer files at your convenience.
  1. Open the Stentec Installer on your computer.
    Don't have the Stentec Installer yet? Download the program via this link.
     
  2. Open the Stentec Installer and choose the second option: Install software and charts from the internet and click on 'Next'.
     
  3. You now need to log in with your Stentec account. Forgot your password? Click here to request a new password.
     
  4. You will now see an overview of all software and digital navigation charts that you have purchased. Check the box for WinGPS 6 (Navigator, Pro or Voyager) 2022 and click on 'Next'.
     
  5. In the next screen, click on 'Next' again to start the download and installation of WinGPS 6. You will be notified when the installation is complete.
WinGPS 6 2022 is now installed, activated and ready for use. We look forward to your findings.

In order to meet the growing demand for service and to continue to deliver the trusted quality, we have reformed our service policy. With the subscriptions mentioned above you can use our service without any worries and get the most out of your WinGPS navigation.
  • The service costs have been indexed again for 2023 and will change from €15 to €20 per 15 minutes. If you have a Service (or Premium) Subscription, these costs do not apply and you can purchase unlimited service throughout the year for the price of 1 hour of service.
  • Our telephone lines are being optimized, so that you can reach the right person faster.
  • The callback service for subscribers introduced last year will be expanded and easily available in our new telephone line, so you don't have to wait. With 1 press of a button you can submit a callback request.
  • Due to popular demand, we will arrange for your subscription to be automatically extended in 2023. This way you are always assured of the best service and (if you choose the Premium) you always have the latest updates for WinGPS 6.

DKW UK1 English & Scottish East Coast

The third quarter update of the DKW UK 1 for the English and Scottish East Coast is online! Do you have the 2022 edition of this chart? Download this update now for free in your WinGPS.

A total of 144 files have been modified with BaZ updates (Notices to Mariners) or new chart editions. As usual, this concerns the dynamic estuaries such as the Thames, Humber and Tyne where the waterways often change.

 

DKW 1801 North Sea coast

There is a new edition of the 1801 North Sea coast, from Den Helder to De Panne (BE). You can download this as a BaZ update with the DKW 1801.

Ideal to combine with the DKW UK1 for a crossing to Great Britain.

What's new: 
  • The wind farms that are currently being constructed or expanded (Princess Amelia, Hollandse Kust-Zuid and Borssele) are on the chart with their new boundaries. The cabling is also shown.
  • In the Belgian North Sea, a number of light beacons have been provided with additional information.
  • New depth measurements have been made and this has resulted in an improved depth picture in a number of places: In the Western Scheldt near Vlissingen, between Goeree-Overflakkee and Schouwen-Duivenland and the Molengat between Den Helder and Texel.

DKW Northern France

There is a new major update for the DKW Northern France. This clear chart provides all the information you need for your journeys on the beautiful northern French inland waterways, such as the Seine, Oise, Somme and Meuse, and fits seamlessly with our other inland waterways charts.

What's new: 
  • The data from the ENC chart of the Seine upstream from Paris has been processed: A fairway has now been marked and the shipping signs and buoys have now been placed on the chart.
  • Previously, all geographical names were in one waypoint group, which is now divided into place names, water names and other geographical names including road numbers.
  • Work is currently underway on the reconstruction of the Pommeroeul-Condé canal, between the French Scheldt and Belgium. In anticipation of the reopening, the bed is indicated on the chart.
  • At km. 29, a new marina has been constructed along the Oise with a lock and apartments at l'Isle Adam. The new situation is on the chart.
  • Detailed charts have also been added.

The Maas at Broekhuizenvorst

What is new?

  • The Frisian Lakes contain the latest depth measurements.
  • The Zeesluis IJmuiden is new and added to the chart.
  • There have been some changes along the Maas. See the image above for an example. As a result, floods are better prevented.
  • A new waterway has been added between Oostmahorn and Ezumazijl, so that you can now take the sloop from Dokkum to Oostmahorn.
  • The water names are shown as waypoints on the chart, so they rotate with you.
  • A separate chart has now been added for South Limburg. This allows you to also sail a bit across the Belgian border, such as over parts of the Briegden-Neerharen Canal and the Albert Canal. See image at the bottom of the mailing.
