General question for Sail Simulator (raising sails, pulling sheets, etc.)

Glitches in SS 4.2.4

Postby paul thurston » Mon 09 Feb 2009 - 05:45

I am having a problem with cloud like 'specks' running across the screen.

They move quickly across the screen and from one direction. Obviously a graphic card problem or similar?

It only happens occasionally.

Anyone else had this glitch, and what can I do to get rid of it ?

I'm running a Dell Inspirion 6000 1.6Ghz with Windows XP (Service Pack 3) 512Mb RAM, and a Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family Graphics Card with 1680x1050 Res, in Windowed mode and Direct X V9.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,

Paul.

This is probably not a glitch, but the wind layer in Sail Simulator 4. It helps to show the direction of the wind and it can be toggled on/off with the W-button or via the menu 'Environment'->'Show wind'.

Thanks Stefan,

I'll give that a try.

Thanks Stefan,

That was indeed what I was seeing.

Now I know, it's a pretty cool feature.

Also impressed by the way objects/land effect the wind envelope. Very realistic.

Paul.

I agree that was a feature and experience the most realistic sail simulator ever.
