How to import BSB charts in WinGPS Pro 3.1

General:

1. Start WinGPS Pro 3.
2. Insert the CD-ROM with BSB charts into your CD-Rom drive.
3. In WinGPS Pro choose: File >> Import/Export >> BSB Charts.
4. Select the CD-ROM drive which contains the CD.

There are three different types of CD-ROM's with BSB charts: Standard BSB charts, BSB/PCX charts en Swedish BSB charts. These CD-ROM's differ in folder structure. You can determine what type you have by using the Windows Explorer. Standard BSB CD-ROM's contain a folder called 'BSBCHART', BSB/PCX CD-ROM's a folder called 'CHARTHDR' and Swedish BSB CD-ROM's contain a folder 'CDx' in which x is the number of the CD-ROM. The installation guide for these three types of CD-ROM's follows:

Standard BSB charts:

5. Select the folder 'BSBCHART' (doubleclick).
6. Select the correct chartdatum. You can determine the right chartdatum by clicking on the "Show Info" button. A screen should pop up displaying information about the selected chart. The chartdatum is shown after "Geodetic Datum". You have to select the correct chartdatum, otherwise you can deviate while navigating.
7. Choose a folder where the charts should be stored. You can choose an already excisting folder or create a new one by typing a new name. The charts won't be placed into a folder if you keep the field empty.
8. Click "Ok" to import the charts.

BSB/PCX charts:

5. Select the folder 'CHARTHDR' (doubleclick).
6. Select the correct chartdatum. You can determine the right chartdatum by clicking on the "Show Info" button. A screen should pop up displaying information about the selected chart. The chartdatum is shown after "Geodetic Datum". You have to select the correct chartdatum, otherwise you can deviate while navigating.
7. Choose a folder where the charts should be stored. You can choose an already excisting folder or create a new one by typing a new name. The charts won't be placed into a folder if you keep the field empty.
8. Click "Ok" to import the charts. BSB/PCX charts are alway copied to the harddsik into the 'Charts' folder of WinGPS Pro.

Swedish BSB charts

5. Select the folder 'CDx' (doubleclick). x is the number of the CD. For example, with "SCD7 Vättern och Vättern CD7" x should be 7 and the folder to select would be 'CD7'.
6. Select the folder 'chart' (doubleclick).
7. Select the correct chartdatum. You can determine the right chartdatum by clicking on the "Show Info" button. A screen should pop up displaying information about the selected chart. The chartdatum is shown after "Geodetic Datum". You have to select the correct chartdatum, otherwise you can deviate while navigating.
8. Choose a folder where the charts should be stored. You can choose an already excisting folder or create a new one by typing a new name. The charts won't be placed into a folder if you keep the field empty.
9. Click "Ok" to import the charts.

Remarks: This installation guide applies to WinGPS Pro 3.10.6 or higher. If you own an older version of WinGPS Pro you should update it to the latest version. Standard BSB charts and Swedish BSB charts are not copied to the harddisk. When you select a Standard or Swedish BSB chart in WinGPS Pro, the CD-ROM containing the charts should be in your CD-ROM drive. If you want to hold the charts on the harddisk, the entire CD-ROM must be copied to it. Then you must search for the folder where you copied it instead of your CD-ROM drive at point 4. Working from the harddisk is faster, but make sure you've got enough free space.
