Within a few days also the 2008 editions of the English South Coast (UK08 and UK09) and the German Baltic Sea Coast (DL) are expected.

Navkom corrected a calibration error for Pellworm harbor in DL02. Also new D088 Helgoland and D0105 were added. The NK_DL02 update can be downloaded using your inlog code. Our excuses for this inconvenience.

Later then last year, but completely 2008 and up to date with the latest charts from May: The new Navkom 2008 edition of the German Bight ! Click the figure on the right to order.

Also a new 2008 edition of the North Sea Offshore chartset. This NSOF set is used by the KLPD (police) unit North sea and covers the complete North sea area. On the NSOF chart list you also find a British Admiralty world chart.

Yesterday we released fine new updates for WinGPS 4 Navigator, Pro and Voyager. All reported bugs have been fixed. New weather and tidal menu buttons are added to simplify the interface (see the buttons in the figure).

For Voyager and Pro a good number of 36 Dutch tidal stations have been added, mainly stream upwards along the rivers. An investigation to the support of word wide tidal data like in WX Tides has been started.

The paper stream atlas often shows an unrealistic high difference between 6 hours before and 6 hours after high water. The time lap is only 25 minutes average. For a digital version, like NLTides or Total Tides, this can lead to discontinuities in the flow vectors around low water. Even sometimes a sudden jump in direction can be seen. This problem has been solved in the new updates. WinGPS 4 Voyager and Pro show a fluent flow transition that looks far more realistic than predicted by the previous modeling.

The Navkom 2008 editions of the sailing area around Denmark have been released in DKW2 forma for all WinGPS 4 programs (PC and PDA). Besides the complete area (DK0) also separated sets are available from Skagerak and Kattegat (DK1), Danish South Sea at Bornholm (DK2) and Danish North Sea and Limfjorde (DK3). Now available on CD or as download in our online shop.

Besides Grib wind and current now also the NLTides stations are included in WinGPS 4 Voyager and Pro. Support for world wide tidal stations is expected to follow later this year. The time slider can be used see the predicted tidal stream and height data. Tidal heights are shows as lines above the tidal stations on the charts. Click on the figure on the right.

It was not possible to compile the new WinGPS 4.2 Pro version for Win98,SE,ME. It is recommended to use XP or Vista instead.

Our new WinGPS 4.2 Navigator is a major step forward. A handy time slider can be used to look at an up to 7-day period Grib weather prediction. License holders can update the new version 4.2.0.4 for free, using the menu option under Help/Search for updates. Win98/ME/SE users are recommended to step over to XP or Vista. See also our Dutch user manual. English and German manuals will follow.

Yesterday the updates of WinGPS 4 Mobile Navigator and Mobile Lite have been released for Pocket PC or mobile phone with Mobile 2003, 5,6 and touch screen. Standard installation from a XP/2000/Vista PC or by opening the CAB file on the SD card in your PDA.

The 3 day period tidal Grib prediction of Baltic Sea, North Sea and German Bight as supported in WinGPS 4 Voyager and coming 4 Pro was corrected this morning by the BSH (Now UTC and not German LT). These grib files also include wind drift effects and can therefor show some differences comparing to the NLTides stream data.

The 2008 updates for all our WinGPS 4 series programs are expected to be released next week. This is one week later then planned due to our new release procedure that is intended to increase the stability of new releases. License holders can update for free. For PC version simply using the help/search for updates menu button. For PDA re-run the previous setup on an online PC and connected PDA.

In cooperation with Navicarte, NV-Verlag publishes a complete and affordable digital chart sets and combipacks in the new nv.digital format. (previously Maptech BSB4 format). Stentec is one of the few software developers that already supports the new format.

For setup first update your DKW Manager to v.1.3.9.0 or higher. Follow the NV-Verlag installation and activation procedure. Choose a directory per chart set on your hard disk and install the charset with the new DKW Manager from the directory.

De NV1-5 combipacks (paper+CD) are already on stock and most new chart sets will be released by NV-Verlag the beginning of May. Soon to be found in our online shop.

Downloading the new Voyager update is recommended for all Voyager license holders. In update v.4.0.2.2 the wind and tidal stream vectors at the waypoint along a route were only shown when NLTides tidal stations were selected. This bug and other smaller ones were fixed. Tidal depth is now shown on the chart when the Dutch NLTides database is coupled to the waypoints of a route. Grib selection using the Main chart viewer area has been added as a new feature. Have a look at the figure on the right.
Also the Dutch user manual has been updated. The German user manual is almost ready and will be released on short term.

One month after winning the Hiswa Innovation price the first WinGPS 4 Voyager update has been released. The new version is now as it was designed and shows an improved stability also due to the comments of the first 100 users. A database with polar diagram of 1257 types of sailing boats is included for weather routing using Grib files and NLTides data. See e.g. the First 31.7 polar in the figure.

Have a look at the extended Dutch user manual or the English or German Voyager brochure. The program itself is multilingual. An English and German user manual is in preparation for a release in April/May. Start-up sheets in these languages can already be download from our GPS freeware page.

The DKW1800/2008 chart sets have been released today. This week the CD's will be pressed for the Hiswa boat show. Also the license codes with download instructions for a free upgrade will be e-mailed to those who purchased a 2007 chart sets after November 1, 2007.

Upgrading to the new edition is recommended because the depth information has been updated conform LAT for the whole 1800-series sailing area. Have a look at the differences between last year and 2008 for the Westerschelde (2008 in the right). The 2008 Update Service will start around the end of May and is free until March 2009.

On 1 February 1983 Engineering Office Stentec was found and officially registered at the Chamber of Commerce in Utrecht. Average, only 10% of the companies is becoming older then 25 year. Therefore we would like to use the year 2008 to celebrate this happy fact with all our relations, friends, dealers and users.

ANWB and Stentec are preparing the release of digital versions of all 18 ANWB Waterkaarten, covering all Dutch inland waters in the editions 2007/2008 and 2008/2009. In February they will become available as downloads in Stentec's online shop. For March a free CD will be released containing a demo chart set (F, Alkmaar, Den Helder) running under WinGPS 4 Lite. For all other 17 chart sets on this CD download licenses are sold in Stentc's online shop. The new chartsets can be used for navigation with all WINGPS 4 series programs.

The ANWB CD's Noord-Nederland 2006/2007, West-Nederland 2004/2005 and Grote Rivieren 2004/2005 will be taken of the market. Stentec did stop all sales from now on. More information about the new 2008 CD fill follow soon.

Our new defined WinGPS 4 Voyager program is nominated for the Hiswa Innovation price. Voyager is the new name for our WinGPS 4 Pro Interactive version under development. The program will be released at the Hiswa 2008 boat show in Amsterdam, the beginning of March.

The new Voyager allows boat specific route optimization using Polar diagrams, Grib files for wind and stream. Polar diagrams are available for more then 700 sailing boat types. More accurate calculation of the estimated time of arrival is a major safety aspect voyages. For regatta sailing route optimizing can help to win the race. Other Innovation are AIS-XT for fluent AIS ship plotting, and a time slider to predict the future wind, stream and AIS ship traffic situation along a route.

The new v.4.1.2.0 update of WinGPS 4 Pro has extended processing of AIS-messages. This means more AIS ships in view and also airborne-SAR objects. Search and Rescue (SAR) airplanes and helicopters send out an AIS message each 10 seconds. Updating is recommended for safety on board using AIS. Simply use the Search for Update option under help in the menu. Have look at the Release History (EN/NL).

The picture on the right comes from a KNRM Katwijk demonstration. Most rescue boats own Class A AIS transponders these days.

Today the Update service of Stentec's Dutch DKW1800/2007 edition has been started up with a large number of modifications. If you want to be informed please subscribe to our Update-mailing (link above). Updating can simply be done with the Update option in the chart menu of WinGPS 4, 4L or 4 Pro or by using DKW Manager. There are many changes in the 2007 edition. See the DKW1800-page). Because navigation on older sets can lead to unsafe situations, we recommend to replace them for 2007 edition sets. You can make use of the special offer for the DKW1800/2006 Complete Upgrade, valid until April 30 !

New updates of WinGPS 4 Navigator and 4 Pro allow easy GPS-navigation under Windows Vista, including easy DKW1800-series chart updating using the Chart Update menu button, starting up DKW Manager. The WinGPS 4 Pro update now also supports AIS message 24 for showing the name and call sign from ships with Class B AIS-transponders. Vista updates of WinGPS 4 Lite and the demo versions can be downloaded from our GPS-freeware page. The Vista update of DKW Builder is expected next week. Next Monday the Vista updates of WinGPS 4 Navigator and 4 Pro become available in our Programme Update Service. Then use the Search for Update menu option under help to download and install the new versions.

Special versions of the Miniplex 41 and 42 NMEA-multiplexers now support 4800 baud NMEA, 38400 baud AIS (input 2) and Seatalk for Raymarine (input 4). Now avalaible in our online shop.

The new version 4.1.6.0 release of WinGPS 4.1 Mobile Navigator (for PDA)now also contains the new GPS-filtering option of other WinGPS 4 software programs. Switching on the filter stabilizes the COG/SOG vector dramatically, especially for Sirf III GPS receivers. Also a new Mobile Lite freeware version can be downloaded from our GPS-freeware page.

New versions of DKW Builder Lite (to make small DKW2 chart sets), DKW Manager (for install DKW2 and BSB chart sets) and WinGPS4 Lite (to show your GPS-position) can be downloaded from our GPS-freeware page. Also new Stentec and Navkom demo-chart sets to try out WinGPS4 Lite or the new demo versions of WinGPS 4.1 Navigator and 4 Pro.

The DKW1800/2007 edition has been released today. Well in time before the Hiswa boat show. The e-mailing with download instructions for a free upgrade for 2006 chart sets purchased after Nov 1 was sent already.

The final 2006 Update will follow this week. Upgrading to the 2007-edition is recommended. Have a look at the differences at Noorderhaaks due tidal stream and a new tidal reduction plane definition conform LAT for the northern part of the Netherlands.

The 2007 Update Service will be available the end of March/beginning of April, possible already in renewed form based on Rijks Waterstaat buoy database.

Due to the climate change an early start of the sailing season is expected in the Netherlands. Even more we enjoy the early release of Stentec's DKW1800-series of digital charts for IJsselmeer, Waddensea, Maasmond, Zeeland and Northsea coast at Hiswa 2007 (March 6-11). New released demo versions of WinGPS 4.1 Navigator and WinGPS 4 Pro can now be downloaded from our GPS-freeware page. Installation of these stand-alone programs does not effect any other WinGPS 4 programs. The multilingual demo versions are designed for evaluation as well as for training. The 4 Pro demo can also be used as free plotter for AIS-testing, even supporting message 24 for Class B transponders.

The new BT-CD110 tracker of Wondeproud can be used for GPS-tracking and for GPS-navigation as Bluetooth or USB Mouse GPS (cable included). The tracks can be shows using the replay option in WinGPS 4 (Pro). Track files in KML format can be opened in Google Earth. A special application is the analysis and presentation of regattas, for example on a big screen using a beamer. Of course each boat must have a CD110 onboard. De multifunctional and accurate BT-CD110 GPS-tracker is now available in online shop. Ask Stentec for volume discount or the renting options for regattas.

Our software team has re-started the development of Sail Simulator 5. A release of a beta-version has been planned for the end of September. DirectX9 technology will improve the graphical quality of boats and surrounding. This includes pixel shading and texture mapping on sceneries.

Further improvement on the physics will make virtual sailing with Sail Simulator even more realistic. The seaworthiness of boat and crew can be tested with the improved wind and wave modeling. Sheltering behind an island will be made possible.

A new scenery designer toolkit will allow importing of 3D-models in SketchUp and OBJ format. On request of many users the development of a ship designer will be started up. For those who does not want to wait that long: Sail Simulator 4.2 is now offered at an very affordable price. Have a look in our online shop !

New English brochures of WinGPS 4.1 Navigator and WinGPS 4 Pro can be found on our updated GPS-Freeware page. German language prospects will follow soon. In boths laptop navigation programs the langauge can be set to English, German, French, Danish, Swedish or Dutch.

Use our new DKW Builder 1.2.3.0 to create charts for all our WinGPS 4-series programs (PC and PocketPC). You can use scans in unlimited size or number or use Google Earth screenshots to make a river chartset for example. For stitching them all together we can recommend the free Autostitch demo. Using overlapping A4 scans is also possible. Updating to the new well tested version is free for license holders. An affordable download version of the new DKW Builder is available in our online shop.

Have a look at the Winter Specials in our online shop, only valid in November and December. Including affordable hard and software to make a complete GPS-navigation system from your laptop. During the winter period you can make your own DKW2 chartsets from Google Earth with our DKW Builder, and train GPS-navigation using the GPS-simulator in WinGPS 4 Navigator, new 4 Pro or WinGPS 4 Mobile.

Our very realistic Sail Simulator and Motorboat Simulator are offered at strongly reduced prices as ideal Christmas presents. In Sail Simulator a sailing course for beginners is included, and also racing is possible. Stentec is cooperating with VSTEP to use a coming WinGPS 4 Pro demo as a chart plotter for a coming NMEA interface for VSTEP's Ship Simulator. Ship Simulator is a designed as a simulation program for steering ships in the main port harbors of e.g. Rotterdam and Hamburg. Now available on CD-ROM in our online shop.

New WinGPS 4.1 Navigator (v.4.1.5.2) and WinGPS 4 Pro (v.4.0.7.2) have been released. Among many modifications on the release histories on the 4 and 4 pro pages, you will find GPS-filtering to damp the course/speed vector. License holders can easily update using the menu Help/Search for update.

Affordable download versions can be purchased in our online shop. We defined an Upgrade Special until the end of 2006, for license holders of Pro 3 and 4 to upgrade to our new WinGPS 4 Pro!

Both versions support BSB and DKW2 charts and the following program languages: English, Dutch, German, French, Danish and Swedish.

Llicense holders of the Navkom DL1, DL2, DL3 and DL4 can use the username and the pass word from the e-mail with download instructions to download a updated charts set. CD-owners can contact Stentec for a username and password. With an exception of one scanned chart all charts are digitized and therefore of high quality and more compact. Yearly 2 updates are planned.

The updated chart sets are also for sale in our online shop. A 30% discount is offered to license holders of a previous edition.

With improved developing tools and help from our beta-testers a couple of bugs have been traced and fixed. New is the support for tracks without time data (e.g. downloaded from Garmin 60 or imported GPX-files). Also the accuracy have been increased for 3-point calibrated charts, like RD river charts or UTM charts. To take effect BSB charts have to be re-installed using the new DKW Manager.

The new stable versions of WinGPS 4 Lite, 4 ANWB, Mobile Lite can be downloaded from our GPS-freeware page or simply through menu/help/Search for update like the updates of WinGPS 4 Pro, 4 Mobile or the long expected WinGPS 4.1 Navigator. For 4 Navigator and 4 Pro the program text is now also (partly) available in German, French, Danish and Swedish, to help our translators to optimize the text for next updates.

An recommended update for the new ANWB/VVV Noord Nederland (2006/2007) CD has been released. Use the Menu/Help/Search for update option in your WinGPS 4A. The update solves a bug in Jachthavenvoorzieningen (Yacht harbor data) and also offers extended support for downloading of Garmin tracks, including 'Timeless' tracks e.g. saved in a Gamin 60. The new WinGPS 4A v.4.1.3.0 can also be downloaded from our GPS-freeware page. Also recommended for Grote Rivieren and West Nederland.

Today a new WinGPS 4 Pro v4.0.5.0 update has been released with improved Garmin and Furuno Up/Download, AP-support and higher position accuracy for non-North charts (also TM and RD). An overview of the modifications can be found in the WinGPS 4 Pro release history.

Users of v4.0.3.1 or older versions can update using the Search for Updates button. Version 4.0.4.1 users can update directly from our ftp-server. The new WinGPS 4 Pro version is for sale in our online shop.

From www.sailsimulator.com a new sailing area the Kieler Bight can be be downloaded (65 MB). Suitable for Sail Simulator as well as for Motorboat Simulator. A fast PC is recommended.

The new Noord-Nederland 2006/2007 CD is available from today. All back orders have been processed.

De new chart sets is based on accurate and detailed charts of the Topografische Dienst. which is a main improvement comparing to the 2004/2005 edition. The passanten-harbor 'Heegerwal' in Heeg is positioned correctly and all surrounding buildings are shown. Imported tracks from a canoe and bicycle trip prove local accuracy.

The CD is easy to install and includes also WinGPS 4 Lite software your PC and Mobile 2003/5.0 PDA. The ANWB N-NL CD can be purchased in our online shop.
