When you now buy a DKW 1800 complete, DKW German Bight, DKW German East Sea Coast, DKW English East Coast or an Imray chart, you receive the 2012 upgrade for free!

This enables you to update the charts until January/March 2013. This way you have actual charts this winter and coming sailing season!

The DKW 1800-serie (IJsselmeer, Wadden, Zeeland, Rijnmond and North Sea coast) is updated every week. With our online update service you are able to update the charts until March 2013.

For the DKW German Bight, German East Sea Coast en English East Coast the update service is for 2012. These chart sets are updated several times a year. This way you will have up-to-date charts during your sailing holiday in 2012.

More and more users of WinGPS 4 have upgraded to WinGPS 5. The new route planner turns WinGPS 5 into a complete navigation program. A great advantage of WinGPS 5 Pro compared to 4 Pro is the AIS-XT function. This used to be only in the Voyager version. When you are navigating with the 5 Pro version and have an AIS receiver/transponder connected,you will see AIS traffic moving fluently over your charts. This allows you to plan a passing with another vessel safely and easily.

The Bridges/Locks database which is implemented in WinGPS 5, shows you all information along your route, including pictures. These information allows you to create a route based on the dimensions of your ship.

Deze video toont het gebruik van de magic button waarmee routeoptimalsatie op open water wordt aangezet. De aanbevolen optimale route kunt u vastleggen met routepunten. Daarna kunt u de magic button uitzetten. Het aantal punten (lees koerswisselingen) van Openleg optimalisatie kunt u eventueel instellen bij Bestand/Eigenschappen/Planner.

Deze video toont het principe van automatische routeoptimalisatie. De optimale route wordt bepaald bij handmatig varieren van blauwe wind- en groene stromingspijlen bij begin en eindpunt van een routeleg. Bekeken wordt een overstag- en gijpkoers en tevens zijstroming op bij motoren. Bij toenemende zijstroming kan je tijd winnen door extra op te sturen en je later te laten meevoeren met de stroom.

 

Deze video toont het testen van de routeoptimalisatie van WinGPS 5 Voyager voor een oversteek naar Engeland. Met het bewerkroutepunt-knopje is de routeoptimalisatie voor een routeleg aan te zetten. Getoond wordt de snelste route voor een Bavaria 36 rekening houdend met gribfiles van wind (Grib-US/NOAA) en stroming (BSH). Bij veranderen van vertrektijd of bestemming wordt de optimale route direct aangepast. De paarse lijn is de grootcirkel.

Het kampioensteam van Za1 - De Jager is met WinGPS 5 Voyager klaar de 24-uurs. Het ZA1-team wordt gesponsored door Stentec en is al voor de 5e keer Nederlands kampioen in de Lemsteraak klasse. Navigator Martijn de Jong is nauw betrokken bij de ontwikkeling van WinGPS Voyager. De Delta Lloyd 24-uurs race wordt 26 en 27 augustus gezeild op IJsselmeer, Markermeer en Waddenzee.

Op www.za1.nl kunt u een 24-uurs wedstrijdkaart en een boeienbestand in w5db formaat downloaden. Dit kunt u importeren in WinGPS 5 zodat u vooraf met de 7-daagse GRIB.us alvast een eerste route kunt uitzetten.

Tijdens de race kunt u ook gebruik maken van de 2-daagse gedetailleerde Grib files van de Noorse weerdienst (Noord Europa). Gebruik de Magic Button van WinGPS 5 Voyager als uw adviseur om de gustigste wind (-voorspelling) op te zoeken.

Ondanks de late release deze zomer varen er al meer dan 700 gebruikers met WinGPS 5 programma's aan boord.

Het gecombineerd routeplannen op open water en binnenwater wordt over het algemeen erg op prijs gesteld. Toerzeilers laten zich graag adviseren door de Magic button routeoptimalisatie van WinGPS 5 Voyager. Het hiervoor instellen van eigen schip en polair diagram is erg eenvoudig geworden.

Deze week zijn er van alle versies updates verschenen waarbij de gemelde fouten zijn opgelost en tevens enkele suggesties zijn verwerkt. De wijzigingen zijn te vinden in de release history. Een samenvatting:

Bij alle versies is een knop toegevoegd om de bruggen en sluizen snel aan en uit te kunnen zetten en is de naaminvoerfout in het routeoverzicht opgelost. Het extra kaartvenster van WinGPS 5 Navigator leest nu de meest gedetailleerde kaart in de kaartcollectie.
  
Bij WinGPS 5 Pro en Voyager wordt bij varen op de motor nu ook rekening gehouden met de invloed van harde wind op de snelheid en brandstofverbruik (boven Bft4). Het verbergen van het eigen vaartuig van de AIS transponder werkte niet, maar is nu weer mogelijk.

In WinGPS 5 Voyager is het nu mogelijk om rechtstreeks op geoptimaliseerde legs nieuwe routepunten te klikken. Handig om een optimale route snel vast te leggen.

Meldingen van onjuistheden in de VIN database m.b.t. bedieningstijden, brughoogten en vaarwegen worden verwerkt in een update als ook het VIN netwerk wordt geactualiseerd. De meest belangrijke meldingen zijn reeds verwerkt in de verschenen updates.

Updaten gaat eenvoudig via de menuknop Help bij Zoek naar Update of het Download overzicht van uw gebruikersaccount op www.stentec.com.

Release WinGPS 5 Voyager nu snel verwacht

Door een recente serverstoring bij Stentec heeft de ontwikkeling van WinGPS 5 Voyager enige vertraging opgelopen. Inmiddels zijn de problemen opgelost en wordt de release of vrijdag of a.s. maandag (na een weekend testen) verwacht. 

De nieuwe versie is voorzien van een snelle en unieke automatische routeoptimalisatie. Bij het varieren van de vertrektijd ziet bijv u gelijk de optimale route van vorm veranderen. Bij de standaardmethode met uitwaaierende polairen uit wedstrijdprogramma's neemt dit meestal enkele minuten in beslag. Bovendien werkt de nieuwe methode ook voor motorbedrijf en zelfs bij het aanzetten van de motor als de SOG te veel terugzakt bij afnemende wind. Ideaal voor wadvaarders, oversteken, reizen en zeilwedstrijden.
  
In het routebewerkmenu is de reeds lang aangekondigde Magic button opgenomen, waarmee route-optimalisatie voor alle routelegs op open water in een keer kan worden aangezet. Getoond wordt o.a. de snelste of zuinigste route voor uw zeil- of motorboot. De nauwkeurigheid hangt vooral af van de kwaliteit van de wind- en stromingsverwachting uit Grib-files en NLTides.

Hieronder een optimale route voor een oversteek van IJmuiden naar Skegness met een Bavaria 36. De totale reistijd bedraagt 1d 6u 42min. De laatste grote slag voor Skegness wordt aan de wind gezeild met 3kn zuidelijke stroming langs de kust.

New WinGPS 5 Navigator with handy bridge button

An update of WinGPS 5 Navigator, v5.0.2.0 has been released. A new feature. a handy button which enables/disables all the bridgens and locks has been added. Clicking these icons will open a small screen with all the information about that bridge/lock, as well as showing a picture of it (if available). Besides adding this feature, we also removed some bugs concerning making routes.

The 130 MB update can be downloaded and installed simply by selecting 'Search for updates' in the 'Help' menu in WinGPS.

An important notice is that we have changed several incorrect opening times and dimensions of bridges and locks. If you find more, please tell us trough  helpdesk@stentec,.com.
 

Draait WinGPS 5 ook op mijn oude XP laptop ?

WinGPS 5 is geschreven voor moderne laptops, netbooks en Win7 tablets. Deze ondersteunen DirectX 9 of hoger waarmee de 3D-grafische kaart snel en scherp het kaartbeeld kan plotten. Ideaal voor een headup roterende kaart of maximale interactviteit bij touchbediening. 

Op XP laptops ouder dan ongeveer 5-7 jaar draait WinGPS 5 soms niet doordat DirectX 9 nog niet wordt ondersteund. Op Vista of Win7 laptops draait WinGPS 5 prima omdat deze ook hogere eisen stelt aan de hardware. Met het DirectX diagnose programma van Windows kunt u zien welke DirectX versie door uw PC gebruikt wordt (dxdiag uitvoeren bij Start).  

Een vaste XP PC kan eventueel nog van een moderne grafische kaart worden voorzien. Bij een laptop is dit niet mogelijk. Aanschaf van een nieuwe navigatieloptop wordt dan aanbevolen. Bedenk dat een zuinige goed leesbare moderne netbook veel goedkoper is dan uw oude laptop. Overweeg daarom om in betrouwbaarheid te investeren. Stentec levert complete NAVBOOK systemen voorzien van WinGPS 5. 

Een aantal WinGPS 4 gebruikers heeft aangegeven dat ze liever hun oude WinGPS 4 laptop nog een paar jaar willen gebruiken met WinGPS 5. Goed nieuws is dat er hiervoor inmiddels een technische oplossing bedacht en getest is. Zonder DirectX is de beeldopbouw trager en niet te vergelijken met die van een Win7 netbook. Onderzocht wordt of de ontwikkeling van een update zinvol en haalbaar is.

Deze video laat het plannen van een route zien van Den Helder naar Harlingen. Met deze nieuwe optie van WinGPS 5 Pro kan eenvoudig de optimale vertrektijd worden bepaald rekening houdend met NLTides stroom. De tijdschuif toont dat u met de kleinste TTGt (Time to Go total) inderdaad de Texelstroom maximaal mee hebt. Gribfiles tonen veel wind en regen (blauw) langs de route.
 

Het eenvoudigste gebruik van WinGPS 5 is het uitzetten van een 1-punts route vanuit de huidige positie. Kies nieuwe route, klik het bestemmingspunt en start de route met route-info. Schakel routebewerkmode uit tijdens de vaart. Door deze tijdelijk aan te zetten kunt u uw bestemming wijzigen en uw route optimaliseren.
 




In simulatiemode met precisiesturen aan kunt u ook een 1-punts route langsvaren. Getoond wordt o.a. de nieuwe knop waarmee u alle bruggen en sluizen aan kunt zetten.

Deze korte video laat de planningsmode zien: Instellen schip, route uitzetten en optimaliseren op vaarwegennetwerk. In lelystad wordt overnacht. De routetijdbalk toont de gribwind langs de geplande route. De ondergrondkaart is de nieuwe planningskaart NL.



 

Deze korte video laat de navigatiemode zien langs het vaarwegennetwerk zien. Met starten route en langs varen in simulatiemode. Het route-info scherm toont de af te leggen afstand en toont de te passeren bruggen, sluizen en vaarwateren. Tevens opvragen uitgebreide bruginfomatie.

Goed nieuws voor Duitse wadvaarders, Helgolandgangers en Oostzeereizigers. De Juni update van DKW Duitse Bocht 2011 is nu beschikbaar en bevat maar liefst 25 aangepaste kaarten met gewijzigd dieptebeeld, betonning en havenaanlopen. Ook het munitiegebied onder Helgoland is vergroot.

BaZ bijwerken gaat eenvoudig met de knop Kaarten bijwerken in WinGPS 4 of 5. U beschikt dan weer over een veilige kaart. Geen overbodige luxe, zo vlak voor uw vaarvakantie. 

De populaire DKW Duitse Bocht sluit qua kleurstelling mooi aan op DKW1812 Waddenzee Oost en op de nieuwe DKW Duitse Oostzeekust 2011, waarvoor deze week ook een Juni-update verschijnt.

Beta 2 van WinGPS 5 Navigator gereleased

Een verbeterde 2e betaversie van WinGPS 5 Navigator is gereleased en beschikbaar gesteld aan enkele tientallen klanten en testers. Bekijk hieronder de screenshots van de 1e betaversie. Let op de actieve knopjes in de menubalk. In beta 2 is een routepuntbewerkknopje toegevoegd. Handig om snel naam en vertrektijd bij een routepunt in te stellen, bijv. om er te overnachten. Tevens met nieuwe VIN database.

Een route van Heeg naar de kop van Noord Holland over het IJsselmeer met een zeilboot. Het rode bootje in Medemblik is langs de route te verschuiven met de tijdschuif voor analyse. De bedieningstijd van de Overlekersluis bepaalt de uiterlijke vertrektijd (in te stellen bij tab Algemeen van Routeinstellingen).

Van voorgaande route wordt hier de BaZ bijgewerkte DKW1810.4 naar voren gehaald om de juiste boeien te kiezen rekening houden met de windverwachting. In tegenstelling tot Voyager rekent WinGPS 4 Navigator met konstante, windonafhankelijke vaarsnelheid.

Afhankelijk van de testresulaten wordt een volgende beta of de officiele versie van WinGPS 5 Navigator gereleased. WinGPS 4 licentiehouders raden wij aan een voordelige upgrade naar WinGPS 5 te bestellen in onze Online Shop. 
   
 

Grootcirkelroutes WinGPS 5 Voyager ideaal v. zeezeilers

WinGPS 5 Voyager wordt speciaal voor zeezeilers voorzien van een grootcirkeloptie.

Een grootcirkel is de kortste weg langs de aardbol. Op een Mercatorkaart is dit een kromme lijn als u van Oost naar West vaart (of omgekeerd). Op de Noordzee geeft dit afwijkingen van enkele honderden meters tot hooguit een mijl, maar dit kan net om een booreiland heen zijn.

In WinGPS 5 Voyager kunt u een grootcirkel onderverdelen in (benaderen door) een aantal loxodromen (rumb lines), zodat u op koers kunt sturen met uw stuurautomaat. Een loxodroom is een lijn met constante koers en wordt daarom als rechte lijn op een Mercatorkaart weergegeven.

WinGPS 5 Navigator en 5 Pro krijgen deze optie niet.

Zeezeilers raden wij aan hun WinGPS versie te upgraden naar WinGPS 5 Voyager.

Testroutes Heeg-R'Dam met WinGPS 5 Navigator

Tijdens het testen van WinGPS 5 Navigator zijn 4 routes uitgezet van Heeg naar Rotterdam. Gepland werd voor een motorschip van 2,5 hoogte. Rond 17u werd een haven opgezocht waar een routepunt werd geklikt met verblijfstijd tot de volgende morgen 8u. Vroeg op dus.

In WinGPS 5 kan je aangeven waar je wilt varen, binnenwateren incl. Randmeren, IJsselmeer/Markermeer, Waddenzee en Open Zee. Bij harde wind kan je deze gebieden eventueel mijden. Hieronder de screenshots van 4 alternatieve routes.
 

Route Heeg-R'Dam 

1. Over het IJsselmeer via Durgerdam  (snelste route 1 dag 5,5u)
2. Binnendoor langs Zwolle-Arnhem
3. Buitenom via Den Helder en Scheveningen
4. Over het Noord Hollandskanaal via Den Helder en Zaandam

De getoonde plankaart wordt meegeleverd met WinGPS 5.

Updates Imray ID40,50 and 100 available

The 1st updates of the Imray series ID40,50 and 100 are freely available for license holders. Because the updates are bigger than usual, they cannot be downloaded trough WinGPS directly. You will need to log into your Stentec account on www.stentec.com. Under 'Download Overview' (unless you activated anonymously) you will see the chart. Download it again and install it with DKW Manager. This is easily done by selecting 'Install' and following the steps.
De 'oude' kaart wordt dan overschreven met de nieuwe kaart. Er gaat hierbij geen informatie verloren en het telt ook niet als een nieuwe activatie.

The 'old' chart will be overwritten with the new chart. No data will be lost and this does not count as an new activation.

The Imray charts are renowned in the nautic world. Stentec Software sells the digital series with updates since 2010.

Online BaZ bijwerken verplicht op o.a. Westerschelde

Persbericht: Met Stentec's BaZ Update voldoet u aan de SOLAS-plicht op o.a. de Westerschelde.

Op de Westerschelde wordt er op gecontroleerd of schepen aan de SOLAS verplichtingen voldoen en dat geldt waarschijnlijk ook voor alle andere vergelijkbare wateren. Voor alle schepen die varen op zee is het o.a. verplicht om een recent bijgewerkte kaart aan boord te hebben. Plezierjachten die op zee varen zijn aan de regels van SOLAS V gebonden.

Het niet bij zich hebben van een actuele en bijgewerkte kaart getuigt niet alleen van slecht zeemansschap. Er staat ook nog een stevige boete op. Als dit geldt voor de Westerschelde dan geldt dit in principe ook voor andere havenmondingen en getijdenwateren zoals de Waddenzee.

Update ontwikkeling WinGPS 5

Waarschijnlijk kijkt u vol verwachting uit naar uw nieuwe WinGPS 5 versie met routeplanner. De ontwikkeling verloopt voorspoedig. Het herstructureren van de rekenroutines van gekoppelde routes (op open- en binnenwater) heeft  extra tijd gekost. Hiermee is doorontwikkeling echter eenvoudiger en kan relatief kort na Navigator ook Pro en Voyager worden gereleased.

 

PLANNING

De release van WinGPS 5 Navigator is voorlopig gepland voor eind juni. Pro en Voyager volgen waarschijnlijk eind juli. Genoemde plandata onder voorbehoud. De versie wordt pas gereleased als deze voldoende stabiel is.

 

BÈTAVERSIE

Voorafgaande hieraan zijn er binnen enkele weken bètaversies beschikbaar welke wij aan kopers van WinGPS 5 op verzoek ter beschikking stellen. WINGPS 5 SERIE

Beter leesbaar en scherp kaartbeeld, bijna traploos te zoomen

 

Sneller opstarten met veel kaarten.

 

Supersnel route-uitzetten op het Nederlandse VIN vaarwegennetwerk van Rijkswaterstaat. Handig voor bepalen van de gewenste route en vertrektijd.

 

Een routeplan optie met ingebouwde brug- en sluis openingstijden helpt u bij het vinden van een optimale route voor uw schip.

 

Tijdens het plannen en varen kunt u de route met de tijdschuif met een rood bootje alvast langs varen, zodat u inzicht in de wachttijden bij bruggen en sluizen krijgt en wat voor stroming en wind u kunt verwachten (Pro en Voyager).

 

Voor het routeplannen dient u o.a. doorvaarthoogte, diepgang, kruissnelheid en brandstofverbruik van uw schip op te geven. Bij WinGPS 5 Navigator kunt u kiezen tussen de snelste of kortste route. Als u niet op groot open water, zoals de Noordzee, Wadden of IJsselmeer/Markermeer, wilt varen kunt u deze gebieden uitsluiten. Op de rivieren wordt rekening gehouden met een instelbare stroomsnelheid.

 

Bij de routeplanning met 5 Pro en Voyager wordt op open water rekening gehouden met stroming van de ingebouwde NLTides database en de 3 daagse nauwkeurige stromingsverwachting van de BSH (Noordzee en Oostzee met windopstuwing).

 

WinGPS 5 Voyager ondersteunt naast stroming ook de Noorse gribfiles van Noord en West Europa. Met 11km spacing wordt routeberekening met het ingebouwde polaire diagram van uw schip aanzienlijk nauwkeuriger. Ideaal voor reizen en de komende 24uurs.

 

Met Voyager kunt u uw route al zeilend door Nederland plannen. U kunt hierbij aangeven welke routedelen u op de motor wilt varen. Standaard wordt de motor aangezet als uw snelheld onder zeil onder een instelbare waarde komt.

 

De gratis Plankaart NL maakt van WinGPS 5 een complete en voordelige routeplanner.

Vanaf nu biedt Stentec Software ook volledig geinstalleerde netbooks aan met ontspiegeld scherm. Van veel WinGPS gebruikers horen wij dat het grootste probleem aan boord het zonlicht is op een beeldscherm. Met de nieuwe Stentec Navbooks die we aanbieden is dit verleden tijd. Door het ontspiegelde (LED) scherm blijft het beeld goed te zien; zelfs in volle zon.

Een Stentec Navbook bestaat uit een Samsung 10"  laptop (of vergelijkbaar product), een WinGPS 4 pakket met gratis upgrade naar WinGPS 5, DKW1800-serie 2011 Compleet ,BU353 GPS ontvanger en een 12V omvormer, zodat u de netbook aan boord ook kunt opladen.

The 1st NtM of the DKW1800/2011 can be downloaded now. Excluding the 1807, every chart  has been updated on 5-4-2011. 2011 license holders can download this package this for free. An advantageuous upgrade is available for 2010 license holders.

Updating your charts is simple trough DKW Manager or the 'charts' menu in WinGPS 4. Your older charts will be replaced with the updated charts, so that only the newest charts will be shown.

In onze agenda vindt u een overzicht van de workshops die wij geven. In een workshop legt onze adviseur u in ongeveer 3 uur de functies van WinGPS 4 Navigator,Pro of Voyager uit.

Het is de bedoeling dat u uw laptop meeneemt met daarop geïnstalleerd het desbetreffende WinGPS programma. Onze adviseur geeft de cursus met een beamer op een groot scherm. U kunt op uw eigen laptop meedoen, zo ziet u direct of u alles snapt.

Een WinGPS workshop kost €70,- en hiervoor mag u 1 laptop en 1 bemanningslid meenemen.

De workshops worden gegeven in ons Servicepunt Heeg en bij Boei26 te Maarssen.

Voorinschrijving WinGPS 5-serie met routeplanner

Stentec presenteert in 2011 een WinGPS 5-serie met routeplanner die zowel voor open als binnenwater geschikt is. Het uitzetten van een route van Arnhem, over het IJsselmeer naar Terschelling is hiermee een fluitje van een cent. Van het voorjaar verschijnt als eerste WinGPS 5 Navigator geleverd met het Nederlandse vaarwegennetwerk en voorzien van online update service voor bruggen en sluizen. Later volgen de  Pro versie speciaal voor motorboten en WinGPS 5 Voyager voor toer- en kustzeilers.

Op Hiswa 2011 werd de WinGPS 5 Navigtor voor het eerst gedemonstreerd. De WinGPS 5 serie wordt verkocht tegen dezelfde adviesprijs als de WinGPS 4 serie. Gebruikers van de WinGPS 4 serie kunnen voordelig upgraden. 2011 Kopers van WinGPS 4 krijgen een gratis WinGPS 5 upgrade.

iPad als bedieningsscherm navigatielaptop aan boord

Een iPad of Adroid tablet kunt u met iDisplay eenvoudig als bedieningsscherm van uw navigatielaptop gebruiken. Zo kunt u in de kuip het beeld van uw navigatielaptop binnen zien en WinGPS 4 volledig bedienen. Met WinGPS 5 gaat het zoomen en pannen van kaarten nog sneller. Ook is toepassing als 2e monitor mogelijk. De tablet hoeft niet over een GPS of 3G te beschikken zodat de goedkoopste iPad1 ook geschikt is. BT moet wel worden uitgezet op de iPad.

Samen met gebruikers is Stentec bezig om deze toepassing te testen. Hiervoor zijn op internet diverse gratis en low cost Apps beschikbaar. Doel is een handleiding te schrijven voor WinGPS gebruikers. Rechtsboven een foto met iPad op het netwerk in Heeg. Rechtsonder een foto aan boord waarbij de iPad1 gekoppeld is aan een boordpc. Het werkt uiteraard ook met ANWB kaarten :)

Voorbeeld 1:
Binnen draait WinGPS 4 Voyager op een Navbook zoals de Samsung welke met een Bluetooth multiplexer draadloos gekoppeld is aan uw Raymarine boordsysteem. Aan de multiplexer is ook een AIS transponder aangesloten. De laptop is gekopeld aan een WIFI accesspoint zodat deze tweezijdig via WIFI kan communiceren met de iPad. Op de iPad ziet u niet alleen waar u bent. U ziet ook AIS schepen varen en u kunt het polair diagram oproepen om te kijken of uw schip op snelheid is.

Voorbeeld 2:
Een voordelige en eenvoudige oplossing, uitgestest door onze gebruikers, bestaat uit een iPad welke direct gekoppeld is aan een Win7 Netbook. Met connectify kunt u van een Win7netbook een Wifi hotspot maken, zodat u rechtstreeks met de iPad of Galaxy aan boord kunt communiceren.

Uw commentaar of ervaring met iPad of andere tablet applicaties wordt erg op prijs gesteld. Deze delen we graag met andere gebruikers.

The new DKW1800-series of the Dutch IJsselmeer, Zeeland, Waddenzee and North Sea coast has now be released in 2011 edition.

The Hydrographic charts have numerous changes in depth, bouyage and harbours. A couple of examples: 

- Bouyage Plaatgat between Ameland and de Schier removed
- Port entrance Oostende completely changed
- Maasvlakte 2
- Island in front of Scheveningen
- Depth Wadden Sea and North Sea coast
- Several changes IJsselmeer/Markermeer.

This is why it is important to sail with the latest charts to avoid unexpected problems. 
A free weekly online update service until March 2012 is included with the 2011 version. With the option Update charts in WinGPS it is simple to keep your digital chart up to date.

The charts connect to DKW1812 (Waddenzee East) perfectly,also in colors. WinGPS 4 Pro or Voyager also allow you to download the 3 day current forecast for the German Bight. These take in account the wind effects on the current.

Na de Duitse Oostzeekust en de Imray kaarten is nu ook de populaire DKW Engelse Oostkust in 2011 editie gereleased. Naast gedetaileerde Oostkustkaarten ook voorzien van overzeilers Noordzee en Kanaal en in dezelfde keurstelling als de DKW1800-serie kaarten. Daarom aanbevolen voor Engelandvaarders.

Wanneer u vanaf 15 oktober DKW 1800 Compleet, DKW Duitse Bocht, DKW Engelse Oostkust of een DKW Imray kaart aanschaft, krijgt u gratis de 2011 upgrade van het betreffende product! Dit betekent dat u uw kaarten gedurende 2011 een aantal maal kunt updaten. Bij de 1800 serie is dit zelfs wekelijks en tot maart 2012! Zo heeft u altijd de meest recente kaarten.

New Miniplex-2 series now available!

As of now, the new Miniplex 2S,2USB and 2BT are available. These new generation NMEA multiplexers contain quite a few improvements over their predecessors. Now, all ports are galvanic isolated, which prevents ground loops between the computer and multiplexer.


Another great adventage is that multiple high speed instruments are supported, because you can configure each port yourself. This means that you may connect your AIS receiver as well as your weather sensor. This also means that now, we only have 3 types: RS232, USB and Bluetooth. This makes your choice a lot more simple. This new generation is able to convert Seatalk to NMEA, which allows you to connect your Raymarine intruments to your (Stentec) computer.
 
Because of the new technology, the miniplex automatically switches from Server-mode (data goes to your computer) to Hub-mode (data goes to the instruments) if your computer would fail or you were to travel without your computer.

Watersportvoorzieningen 2010 is een gezamelijke uitgave van Stentec en de ANWB en wordt aanbevolen voor alle watersporttoeristen in Nederland. De nieuwe database voor WinGPS bevat tal van wijzigingen t.o.v. de 2009 editie.

Om de versie te kunnen gebruiken dient u uw WinGPS te updaten. WinGPS 4 Navigator, Pro of Voyager bevat een voorzieningen filter waarmee je eenvoudig op de digitale kaart kunt zien waar u bijv. diesel kunt tanken. 
 
De Vaaralmanak 2010 CD bevat nu alle 2010 edities van Watersportvoorzieningen, Marrekrite en Bruggen & Sluizen almanak. Van deze laatste is de database bijgewerkt. Ideaal voor zowel reisvoorbereiding als gebruik op de navigatie pc aan boord i.c.m ANWB of DKW1800-serie kaarten.

Afgelopen week is de eerste voorbereidingsworkshop gegeven voor gebruikers van WinGPS 4 Voyager. Hier is vooral ingegaan op de voordelen van WinGPS 4 Voyager i.c.m. Rak 4.3 van Jan Woudstra. De basisinformatie van WinGPS is hier uitgelegd, het verkrijgen van de juiste Polair diagram, ook hebben de deelnemers een BETA versie van WinGPS ontvangen met daarin ondersteuning van zogeheten GRIB2-files van het Meteorologisch instituut van Noorwegen. 

Deelnemers aan de Delta Lloyd 24uurs race kunnen WinGPS 4 Voyager als volgt inzetten om te winnen:

Download het bestand 24uurszeilrace2010.w4db met alle posities van boeien, start en finish.  Selecteer bij het importeren het grote of het kleine bestand met alle 67 waypoints voor alle waypoints, groepen en typen (alle tabbladen). Zet bij Groepenbeheer de groep 24 uurs zeilrace 2010 aan. Het midden van de finish lijnen van race en toertocht zijn aangegeven door finish waypoints.

Met NLTides stroming aan en de wachtijden kunt u de complete route uitzetten over Markermeer, IJsselmeer en Waddenzee. Tijdens het varen kunt u het polaire diagram eventueel schalen bijv in ondieper water, zodat de passagetijdberekening beter klopt.

Speciaal voor de Delta Lloyd 24uurs race is een DKW Dieptekaart IJsselmeer, Markermeer uitgegeven (versie 2009). Klik op de figuur rechts. Door nabijgelegen diep water op te zoeken kunnen vooral de grote schepen de snelheid aardig verhogen. Een gedetaileerde kennis van het diepteverloop is noodzakelijk om de race te winnen. Aanbevolen voor toer- en wedstrijdzeilers en vanaf nu te koop in onze online shop.

Vanaf een paar dagen voor de race heeft het zin om met bijgewerkte Gribfiles een voorlopige startpositie te gaan bepalen. U kunt hiervoor het programma RAK4.3 van Jan Woudstra gebruiken welke voor u een optimale rakvolgorde berekent. Hiermee kunt u in Voyager met het wp bestand een route maken en vervolgens optimaliseren. Hierin kunt u per periode op de dag aangeven uit welke richting de wind komt en met welke sterkte. Het rakkenbestand van 2010 kunt u hier downloaden. 

Voyager maakt gebruik van Grib files. Zie hieronder de voorspelling van de ochtend van 19e augustus. Medemblijk en Den Oever lijken nu goede startposities. Zie Voorbeeldroute met Maxi 999. Ook de Waddenroute zou gunstig kunnen uitpakken als je voordeel kunt halen uit de getijstroom. Met Voyager is dit goed door te rekenen.

Recommended for pleasurecraft as wel as professional. This data is based on the most recent VIN database of our Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management and has about 3000 pieces of art.

You are able to use this database for the ANWB and DKW1800 charts with WinGPS 4 Lite. We suggest however, it is used with WinGPS 4 Navigator, Pro or Voyager. By sliding the time control bar, you are able to see when bridges or locks are operated quickly.

You need to update your version of WinGPS to be able to view the almanac. 
 
This database is available by itself as well as an advantageous combination with Marrekrite (natural moorings) and ANWB water sport accommodations.

Sail trough Belgium with WinGPS

Wonderful news for the motor and internal water sailors. As of today, we expanded the ammount of avaible chart sets for WinGPS with DKW Belgium inland waterways. This chart set was created trough Stentec cooperating with De Rouck Geomatics, renowned publisher of Belgian charts.

The charts come from the Navigation Atlas & Guide of the Belgian Water Ways of De Rouck, which does not only have charts and touristic information, but the opening times of bridges and locks as well. We highly recommendusing the the paper and digital charts combined.

DKW Belgium inland waterways 2010 is available in our Online Shop and at our dealers.

Zaterdag 17 juli a.s. gaat de nieuwe Colin Archer Memorial Race van start. Deze wordt om het jaar gevaren en verleden keer deden er 120 schepen mee. De start is bij Lauwersoog en de race eindigt bij Larvik te Noorwegen (ongeveer 365 zeemijl).           

Deze race laat zich ideaal plannen met WinGPS 4 Voyager in combinatie met de (BSB) kaarten van NV. Verlag.
Plan de route, haal de weersvoorspellingen binnen met GRIB en download de 3 daagse stromingvoorspelling om helemaal voorbereid aan de reis te beginnen.
Mooie toevoeging zijn de (papieren) kaarten en pilots van Imray.

The release of the DKW ID10 en ID30 completes the digital Imray chart set for WinGPS. Both charts are now available on cd-rom or as an advantageous download. For more information: DKW Imray chart summary of Western Europe.


The ID10 chart covers the English and Scottish East coast and is a low-priced alternative for the DKW English East coast.  The DKW English East Coast (with DKW 1800 colors) does not include the Scottish East coast but contains track charts of the entire North sea as well as the English Chanel.
Moreover, it contains detailed charts of the Thames, past London all the way to Teddington Lock.

The ID30 covers the complete British West coast and Ireland. With 274 charts and 621MB of data it is the largest chart set so far.

In adition to these digital charts, we now also supply all Imray charts and pilots.
The pilots contain extra detailed charts of ports.

Belgian water charts finally available for WinGPS

For many years WinGPS users have been asking us for digital charts of Belgium. In a cooperation with De Rouch Geomatics we are developing a DKW2 chart ser based on the new Navigation Atlas & Guide of the Belgian waterways, which Stentec will sell as well.

Book and software make a perfect combination on board. The release of the digital version has been planned for June and will soon be ordered in our Online Shop. Also available at our dealers.

De Rouck Geomatics is a prominent publisher of charts of Belgium with establishments in Sin-Niklaas and Waterloo. De Rouck Geocart charts are available in 3000 selling points in Belgium.

License holders of the DKW English East Coast can update their chart set now. In the April update (50MB) 52 of the 112 charts were updated. Updating your charts increases your safety.

Vandaag zijn DKW Imray ID50 en ID100 gereleased. De ID50 bevat de Europese kust van het westelijk deel van de Middellandse zee tot Corsica en Sardinië. De ID100 bevat het oostelijk deel van het Caraïbisch gebied met o.a. Sint Maarten. 

DKW Imray kaarten zijn verkrijgbaar als download en op CD. Ze zijn eenvoudig te installeren voor WinGPS. Evenals de andere DKW Imray kaartensets zijn dit de edities van april 2010. In juli en oktober zijn Imray kaarten gratis bij te werken met onze online Update Service.

BaZ van DKW1800/2010 vanaf nu wekelijks beschikbaar

Vandaag is de 2e BaZ uitgekomen van de 2010 editie van de populaire DKW1800 kaarten editie 2010.  Vanaf nu is de 2010 editie geheel bijgewerkt en zijn de BaZ's wekelijks beschikbaar voor WinGPS gebruikers. Na online bijwerken zijn de kaarten bijgewerkt t/m week 17. De 2010 editie is hiermee zo actueel mogelijk.  

De P en T berichten worden vanaf nu ook meegenomen. P betekent Preliminary, ofwel vooruitlopend op verwachte wijzigingen. T betekent Temporary, ofwel tijdelijke wijzigingen. Soms zijn tijdelijke wijzigingen minder tijdelijk ;)

In WinGPS kunt u bij Kaarten/Kaartinformatie in WinGPS een lijst opvragen van alle wijzigingen op de betreffende kaart. De meeste 2010 BaZ berichten zijn tot nu toe aangebracht op de Waddenzee kaartensets. Zie ook onze website bij Ondersteuning/BaZ Update service.  

1st NtM 2010 Update. DKW 1800 has never been this recent!

A few days after releasing the DKW 1800/2010, we are proud to release the 1st NtM. After updating with DKW Manager or trough WinGPS 4, 26 charts have been updated up until week 16 with relatively a lot of changes in the Wadden Sea. The HTML list with updated NtM will be ready as soon as possible.

This fast action is possible, because Stentec can update internally , partially automated with specially designed cartographic tools. The DKW 1800 series has never been more up to date.

You may register to our NtM update mailing, like 2000 other users. You will be sent a message every time a DKW 1800, German Bight, English East Coast or DKW Imray chart is updated. This requires you to own a DKW 2010 edition. After all, the last update of the 2009 edition has been released at the beginning of this month.

New ship list of polair diagrams WinGPS 4 Voyager

Click to see our new list of available polar diagrams for the latest version of WinGPS 4 Voyager.

If your ship is not on this list, it is also possible to adjust an existing diagram of a matching ship. Entering from an index or measuring your own, is also possible.

A polar diagram shows the speed of a sail boat on every course and trough lines of constant wind speed. Voyager uses this to calculate the most efficient route and Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) in a very simple manner: update GRIB file, set out route and optimise!

This offers safety to the cruiser and an advantage for the regatta sailor at regattas, such as the '24 uur race'. If a anemometer is connected to your navigation laptop, you can use the polar diagram to keep your ship up to speed.

As of now the DKW 1800/2010 edition is available as a download or complete on CD-rom with simple set-up. We advise the active WinGPS 4 navigators to install the new edition. As always, 2009 license holders may benefit from our advantageous upgrade.

A comparison to the updated 2009 edition will show us the (remarkable) differences:

Adjusted depth transition, depth figures, blue 5m depth lines and cardinal buoyage across the whole area, in particularly IJsselmeer

Adjusted buoyage Enkhuizerzand (figure on the right)

New (extra) charts 2nd Maasvlakte and on 1803

Like the paper 1800-serie chart sets, the digital charts have been updated with NtM up until week 4. This is why the 1st NtM update has been planned for this week (16) to make the charts up to date.

NtM updates of the 2010 edition are free up until March 2011. A wonderful feature is that the updates will be weekly. Updating is simply done trough DKW Manager or from WinGPS 4 with the option Charts/Update Charts. All the changes will be applied after updating. Updated charts can be printed for on board use.

This morning, we received the news that we can download the new 1800 series Monday 19 March. The release date for the CD-rom version is set for Thursday 22 April.The download version will most likely be available a day sooner. These dates are under the usual reserves.

We released the last NtM updates for the 2009 edition. The free Update Service of the 2010 edition will start in May and will be weekly. New DKW 1800 series users can sign up for our  NtM Update mailing.

Tip: Update your DKW 2010 charts online for maximum safety!
It is easy to update online in WinGPS by selecting 'update charts' under 'Charts'. This applies not only to the DKW 1800 series but also to the DKW 2010 editions of the German Bight, English East Coast and the new Imray charts. These will be updated with the latest changes.

DKW Imray ID-40 released with Scillies to Gibraltar

Stentec's DKW Imray series now released the ID-40 as a 312MB download. The cd versions of the ID-20 and ID-40 will follow this week.

This advantageous set contains no less than 152 charts including detailed charts of ports. You can find a chart overview in our online shop. View a sample Imray chart in WinGPS 4. Updates are to be released at the end of each quarter. Online updating is free in 2010.

First DKW Imray chart set released for WinGPS 4

The DKW Imray ID-20 download has been released today, as the 1st DKW Imray chart set. The CD-rom version will follow next week. The release of the ID-40 (French Coast to Gibraltar) is also expected in April.

The ID-20 contains no less than 182 charts of the Channel/English South coast, the Channel Islands and the French Northeast coast. Because of the DKW2 format, the DKW Imray charts are easily installed and updated by using DKW Manager. The set is the April 2010 edition and comes with a free online update service.


Imray charts are characterized by the blue color for deep water. The (suitable) raster is placed on whole 1 to 5 minutes is perfect for sea sailing. The charts are pleasant to read on every scale.

Waterkampioen actie ANWB 2010 en WinGPS 4 Navigator

Last 2009 NtM delayed

The last NtM update 2009 was announced for Tuesday April 6 but this will probably be Monday 14 next week.We apologize for the unexpected delay.

We expect the CD with the 2010 edition of the Hydrographic Office next week, after which we can start the production. Our provisional release date is April 16. The NtM of the 2010 edition will be updated by Stentec itself weekly. Increased safety and less chance of delay.

Stentec is releasing DKW-Imray charts for WinGPS!

Stentec obtained the rights from Imray to release the Digital Imray Charts in DKW2 format for WinGPS. Imray is the most renowned publisher of sea charts in the UK. Paper Imray charts have been used by sailors for centuries. Distinguished feature is the blue color for deep water, just like the ANWB inland charts. More info on www.imray.com.

The DKW Imray charts contain the area of the ID10,20,30,40,50 (figure on the right) and also the ID100 Eastern Caribbean. This greatly increases the coverage area of DKW2 charts. After installing the charts connect seamlessly to each other and other DKW2 charts.

The DKW Imray chart sets will be released by Stentec yearly on CD-rom and as a download. They will feature a free online Update Service for that edition. These updates will be in April, July, and October, so that you will always have recent charts.

Meanwhile, the production of the DKW ID-20 has started (The Channel with English South coast and French North East coast). The release is expected next week. After that, the next DKW Imray sets follow, beginning with the DKW-ID40; the French Atlantic coast to Gibraltar. The DKW Imray 20 can be ordered from our online shop next week.
    

Extra 2009 NtM update because of late DKW 1800/2010

Because of insufficient production capacity at the Hydrographic Office, the 1800 series charts will be released 2 months later than the past 3 years. This also applies to the paper charts. Instead of the Hiswa, we expect the release of the DKW 1800/2010 edition no sooner than the 2nd week of April.

To tide over the period until the 2010 release, the final Notices to Marines (NtM) of 2009 has been planned for April 6. The 2010 edition will have a weekly (push button) online update service, which Stentec provides.

Do not take any chances and choose the new 2010 charts with safe Update Service. In our shops in Heeg and Utrecht you can have your navigation laptop upgraded for the new sailing season.

Buyers of the DKW1800/2009 edition (after Oktober 22 2009) will be the 1st to receive a free upgrade to 2010 edition(download).
The DKW 1800 series with free update service up until March 2011 is also available in our Online Shop.        

 

Eastern updates WinGPS for new Marrekrite 2010

The Marrekrite (natural moorings) 2010 database shows the moorings in the free nature of Friesland on the digital ANWB 2010 inland chart. The icon on the digital chart has the same grass-green color as the Marrekrite 2010 flag, which you may order at www.marrekrite.nl. If you put this flag in your mast, you may camp freely on a Marrekrite. The database tells you if you may camp and if there is a Waste container available.

To be able to use the database, you need to update your WinGPS Lite, Navigator, Pro or Voyager. This is very simple and is done by selecting 'Help' in the menu and then 'Search for updates'. Because we have implemented several improvements, we advise you to install the WinGPS Eastern Update before you enjoy the new water sport season.

Ons ontwikkelingsteam heeft een aantal interessante ontwikkelingen gepland voor WinGPS 4 Navigator, Pro en Voyager. Een aantal zullen er ook al voor of in het vaarseizoen van 2010 verschijnen, zoals de Bruggen en Sluizendatabase waaraan al enige tijd gewerkt wordt.

Deze database is een mooie opstapper naar een Routeplanner voor zeil- en motorboten. Hiermee kunt u straks bijv. een route aanmaken van Ameland naar Arnhem, rekening houdend met wind, stroming en openingstijden van bruggen.

Professionele plug-ins zijn gedefinieerd voor NMEA2000 koppeling, een PC Radar Overlay en Inland AIS. Het routeplannen in Voyager wordt verder verbeterd met routeoptimalisatie welke rekening houdt met dieptekaartjes, zoals die van IJsselmeer en Randmeren. Tevens wordt een windstructuur voor analyse op de kaart geplot als u tenminste een windmeter heeft aangesloten. Ideaal voor de sportieve toerzeiler en m.n. deelnemers aan de 24uurs race.

2010 updates WinGPS 4 serie

Vandaag zijn de 2010 updates van alle WinGPS 4 programma's voor PC gereleased. Licentiehouders van WinGPS 4 Lite, Navigator, Pro en Voyager wordt aangeraden hun versie te updaten. Dit kan eenvoudig vanuit het programmamenu via Help en Zoek naar update. De nieuwe versies zijn stabieler geworden en nog beter bruikbaar voor navigatie aan boord. Wij danken onze gebruikers voor de meldingen. Voor de Pro en Voyager zijn de NLTides 2010 en RWS getijgegevens toegevoegd.

Voor de toer en wedstrijdzeilers is het weerrouteren in WinGPS 4 Voyager aanzienlijk versneld. Van praktisch belang is dat nu altijd de passagetijden en aankomsttijd berekend (ETA) worden, ook als het schip voor anker ligt of tijdelijk van het volgende routepunt afvaart. Hierbij wordt rekening gehouden met de kruissnelheid en de gemiddelde snelheid naar het volgende routepunt. 

De nieuwe versies worden op de komende watersportbeurzen gedemonstreerd te beginnen met Boot Düsseldorf (23-31 januari). Wilt u meer weten geef u dan op voor een leerzame workshop. In onze winkel in Utrecht worden er regelmatig gratis introductieworkshops WinGPS gegeven. De nieuwe WinGPS 4 versies en voordelige upgrades zijn vanaf nu te koop in onze Online Shop. 

New English East coast 1st DKW 2010 release

The DKW English East coast  is the 1st 2010 edition to be released this year, Besides detailed East Coast charts, track charts of the North sea and the Channel are also available.

With the free update service you can have a safe chart the entire year. Updates are expected in April, June, September and November. The chart set is available now as a download or as cd-rom. When you order the advantageous upgrade, you need to enter your 2009 license number.

GPS navigatie met WinGPS onder Windows 7

After a few months experience, we are able to conclude that all recent versions of WinGPS are fully compatible with Windows 7. An advantage of Windows 7 is (a.o.) the very quick start up.

If you wish to use a USB GPS receiver however, you need to install a special Windows 7 driver.
With most GPS receivers, these are not included in the package. You may download an updated driver for XP, Vista and Windows 7 of our website at Support/Downloads and then COM POORT SOFTWARE.

Weekly NtM update service for Stentec DKW 1800 2010 edition

The 2010 edition of the popular DKW1800 series is about to updated weekly. With a few clicks, you can download and implement the Notices to Marines (NtM) in your charts. The navigation laptop or pc has to be online in order for this to work. Also, this only applies to the most recent edition.

The update service has been running 2-4 times a week ever since 1990.Irregular updates however, are not ideal. That is why the 2010 edition will be updated weekly by Stentec. The increased frequency offers more safety to over 1000 water sporters. You may register yourself freely to our NtM mailing list.


When purchasing the 2009 edition after 22 October, you will receive a free 2010 upgrade download (trough email in March).

Gratis 2010 upgrade bij ANWB Nederland

Bij aanschaf van ANWB Nederland kaartenset krijgt u vanaf nu een gratis 2010 upgrade als de 2010 kaartensets uit zijn. De ANWB 2010 release wordt verwacht in maart rond Hiswa 2010. U krijgt dan als eerste een e-mail om de 2010 upgrade te kunnen downloaden. Zo houdt u uw binnenwaterkaarten up-to-date en kunt deze winter zich voorbereiden op komend vaarseizoen. 

Aanbevolen uitbreidingen zijn de Watersportvoorzieningen en Marrekrite databases.
  

November update DKW Engelse Oostkust 2009

The popular DKW English East Coast has received its' final release of 2009. License holders can update their chart set with DKW Manager or trough WinGPS.

Three charts have been fully renewed:
156: Farne Islands to the River Tyne
The original of this chart was of 28 November 2002

1534: Great Yarmouth and Approaches
The longitudinal dikes of the outer harbour that is being built are now put in.

Besides these updates, about 50% of the main charts have had Notices to Marines.
When you purchase a DKW English East Coast after November 1st 2009, you are entitled to a free upgrade to the 2010 edition ( expected in February) with free updates for whole 2010.

Goed nieuws voor beginnende en ervaren WinGPS gebruikers die zich deze winter optimaal willlen voorbereiden op het komend vaarseizoen. 

Vanaf vandaag 22 oktober krijgt u een gratis 2010 upgrade bij aanschaf van de 2009 edities van de Stentec DKW kaarten voor WinGPS.

De DKW 1800-serie (IJsselmeer, Wadden, Zeeland, Rijnmond en Noordzeekust) kunt u met onze online update service up-to-date houden tot maart 2011. De BaZ update service voor de 1800-serie zijn we momenteel aan het reorganiseren.

Voor de DKW Duitse Bocht en Engelse Oostkust betreft de online update service heel 2010. Deze kaartensets worden 4 maal per jaar bijgewerkt zodat u voor uw vaarvakantie in 2010 over een recent bijgewerkte kaart beschikt.

Licentiehouders van complete kaartensets 2009 editie, aangeschaft voor 22 oktober, kunnen begin 2010 de nieuwe editie voordelig aanschaffen. Waarschijnlijk zijn de Duitse Bocht en de Engelse Oostkust al verkrijgbaar op Boot Holland. De nieuwe 1800-serie komt laat beschikbaar en wordt pas in april verwacht.

Sail Simulator 5 perfect for navigation training with WinGPS

For the October Sail Simulator 5 release we have developed a NMEA implementation to a COM port. With a navigation program you can read the data from the instruments on board of the virtual ships in Sail Simulator. Besides being very entertaining, this is a very good opportunity to get familiar with your navigation program. Perfect preparation for the coming sailing season.

The NMEA implementation can be read with all GPS navigation programs which support the NMEA183 protocol. WinGPS 4 Lite and Navigator only require the RMC signal of the GPS. WinGPS 4 Pro and Voyager can also collect the wind, compass, log and depth data. With Voyager  you can learn how to plan routes according to the weather and even make polar diagrams of (for example) the virtual Bavaria 36 in Sail Simulator 5.

You can run Sail Simulator 5 and WinGPS on the same computer. An alternate solution is to connect your gaming computer and your navigation laptop with Bluetooth.

NMWA implementation on the same computer is very easily made. Sail Simulator 5 installs a virtual COM port, which allows you to establish a free Port number. For now, only 32 bits Windows OS (XP, Vista and 7) are supported. We will expand the support of 64 bits later.

Deze winter organiseren wij weer leerzame workshop WinGPS in Heeg en Utrecht. Een overzicht met programma's vindt u bij Navigatie/Workshops.  

Wilt u beginnen met GPS Navigatie op uw laptop geef u dan op voor de gratis introductieworkshop WinGPS in Utrecht. U leert hoe u van uw laptop een eenvoudig of uitgebreid navigatiesysteem kunt maken. Van meelopende kaart tot AIS en koppeling met uw plotter aan boord. U mag uw laptop meenemen. Een laagdrempelige gezellige avond of ochtend in onze winkel in Utrecht met maximaal 6 á 12 deelnemers. 

Bij voldoende deelnemers worden de workshops iedere donderdagavond en/of zaterdagochtend in Utrecht gehouden. In Heeg worden deze los ingepland. Raadpleeg onze agenda voor de datum en status. U kunt u opgeven bij Sime, onze verkoopmanager Utrecht.

Nieuwe versies van Vaartolk en Vaarwoordenboek

De nieuwste versies van Vaartolk en Vaarwoordenboek zijn vanaf oktober leverbaar. 

Vaartolk is een programma voor watersporters in Engelstalige wateren en lezers van Engelse watersportboeken of -tijdschriften.
Als u in Engelstalige wateren vaart, mag de Vaartolk eigenlijk niet ontbreken op uw laptop aan boord.

Vaarwoordenboek is een geautomatiseerd woordenboekprogramma met Nederlandse woorden, uitdrukkingen, acroniemen en afkortingen, en hun betekenis(sen) op boottechnisch, nautisch en watersportgebied.

Deze handige programma's zijn als voordelige download verkrijgbaar in onze online shop.

EGNOS increases GPS accuracy to 2 meters

Good news for GPS users. The ESA has started using the EGNOS satellite system, which increases the position accuracy drastically. ESA claims a factor 10 increase.

The 95% probability with GPS is now 2m instead of the previous 20m. Before the cancelling of the SA interference by Clinton in 2000, this was about 200m. This means that in 10 years, the accuracy has increased with a factor 10.

As of October 1st the EGNOS system corrects the interference on the GPS with 3 geostationary satellites, 40 ground stations and 4 control centers. If EGNOS is supported by your GPS, as is the case with the GlobalSat BU-353(on the right), your position in WinGPS is shown more accurate.

Positionary position variations on a meter scale where before this was on a 10 meter scale (static position). Turning on the position filter in WinGPS 4 Voyager will increase the accuracy even further. We expect that during sailing the accuracy will grow. After all, the Kalman filter only works with speed.

This improvement seems very valuable for (amongst others) chart makers, seeking drowning persons and track & tracing with sailing regattas. With a good chart your ship will be on the exact spot on the wharf now.

200Myls SOLO van start met Stentec als sponsor

Vandaag 23 september is de 200myls 'SOLO' van start gegaan. De race eindigt a.s. zondag. 

Als sponsor heeft Stentec WinGPS 4 Voyager ter beschikking gesteld aan de organisatie. Voyager is ideaal om de 200 NM wedstrijdbanen uit te zetten op een Google Earth ondergrond kaart. Deze laatste is gemaakt met Stentec's DKW Bullder. 

Op basis van de meest recente GRIB file kunnen deelnemers voor hun schip de passagetijden langs de boeien en de eindtijd berekenen. Hiervoor dient eenmalig een polair diagram te worden geimporteerd of te worden aangemaakt.
 
Vooraf, tijdens de rustpauzes en tijdens het zeilen kan snel een alternatieve stategie worden doorgerekend. Voor de routes buitenom houdt Voyager ook rekening met de getijstroming. De nieuwe wachtoptie bij routepunten is ideaal om de verplichte rusttijden van in totaal minimaal 27 uur in te bouwen.

Nieuwe WinGPS 4 Voyager 4.0.17.3 update voor de 24 uurs

Deelnemers aan de 24uurs kunnen WinGPS 4 Voyager als volgt inzetten om te winnen:

Download het bestand 24uurszeilrace2009.w4db met alle posities van boeien, start en finish.  Selecteer bij het importeren het grote of het kleine bestand met alle 67 waypoints voor alle waypoints, groepen en typen (alle tabbladen). Zet bij Groepenbeheer de groep 24 uurs zeilrace 2009 aan. Het midden van de finish lijnen van race en toertocht zijn aangegeven door finish waypoints.

Installeer voor de race de laatste WinGPS Voyager Update v4.0.17.3 van 19 augustus of hoger met laatste verbeteringen. Check nog even vlak voor de race voor een laatste update. Uw commentaar is meer dan welkom.

Met NLTides stroming aan en de wachtijden kunt u de complete route uitzetten over Markermeer, IJsselmeer en Waddenzee. Tijdens het varen kunt u het polaire diagram eventueel schalen bijv in ondieper water, zodat de passagetijdberekening beter klopt.

Bij de update wordt een ORC2009 database meegeleverd met nog meer scheepstypen dan voorheen. Deze kunt u importeren en bij Standaard routeinstellingen selecteren (net als NLTides stroming en Getij).

Speciaal voor de 24uurs is een DKW Dieptekaart IJsselmeer, Markermeer uitgegeven. Klik op de figuur rechts. Door nabijgelegen diep water op te zoeken kunnen vooral de grote schepen de snelheid aardig verhogen. Een gedetaleerde kennis van het diepteverloop is noodzakelijk om de race te winnen. Aanbevolen voor toer- en wedstrijdzeilers en vanaf nu te koop in onze online shop.

Vanaf een paar dagen voor de race heeft het zin om met bijgewerkte Gribfiles een voorlopige startpositie te gaan bepalen. U kunt hiervoor het programma RAK4.3 van Jan Woudstra gebruiken welke voor u een optimale rakvolgorde berekent. Hiermee kunt u in Voyager met het wp bestand een route maken en vervolgens optimaliseren. Begin en eind wind  dient u in RAK op te geven. Het koppelen van beide programma's moesten we helaas naar volgend jaar doorschuiven.

Voyager maakt gebruik van Grib files. Zie hieronder de voorspelling van de ochtend van 19e augustus. Medemblijk en Den Oever lijken nu goede startposities. Zie Voorbeeldroute met First Class 8. Ook de Waddenroute zou gunstig kunnen uitpakken al je voordeel kunt halen uit de getijstroom. Met Voyager is dit goed door te rekenen. 
 

July updates for DKW English East Coast 2009 released

Today the 1st (July) NtM update was released for our DKW English East Coast. License holders are advised to update this chart set with DKW Manager or trough WinGPS. The next update for this chart set is planned for September.

Half of the 121 charts in this set have been updated (NtM of the UKHO). Some older charts have been replaced by new 2009 versions (among others Holy Island, Approaches to Newcastle, London Estuaria and the overview chart British Isles).

Despite the large amount of changes, the NtM update file is only 18MB. This is 2.5% of the size of the total chart set (about 500MB).

Easy weather routing with the new Voyager version

The new WinGPS 4 Voyager version 4.0.16.1 is now made to show your time of arrival and the strait times along the route points. This makes choosing the best route for your ship very easy.

Planning a route with Voyager based on the weather is done as follows: Update the GRIB files and click to create a route on the chart. By sliding the route points around and creating points, it is simple to find the ideal route for your ship.
This may be the fastest route but also the route which uses the least fuel. Voyager will display on the chart which rack you should tack and the best point to start your engine. You may click on the figure to your right to see a screenshot.

Before this update, the only way to display the route, was to make it able to be sailed or where the engine was turned on. If for example a shift of the wind would make the route unsailable, the time of arrival would not be calculated and you would have to slide route points.

In Routes/Standard settings, you may indicate on the new tab Planning that you wish to use the motor if your average speed across a rack is lower than (for example) 5 knots. The head to wind courses with VMG of more than 5 knots as windward leg are displayed by a zigzag line. In the route overview, the average speed and the status (sail leg, windward leg or motor leg) of each rack are shown. The chart indicates this as well, trough the bolded letters S, T or M (Sailing, Tracking, Motor)`.

The visibility of a route has been increased as well and with the follow button you can now enable/disable the following of the chart. A next free update is expected in 1 or 2 weeks for the 24 hour race.

License holder can download this new update for free trough 'Help'/'Search for Update'. The new Voyager can be ordered trough our online shop. License holders of WinGPS 4 Navigator or Pro may use an advantageous upgrade price.

Revised German Bight 2009 version 2 available for download

The German Hydrographic Office (BSH) releases new digital charts every January and June. With these, we have assembled a 2nd edition of the DKW German Bight 2009 which license holders can dowload for free (after logging in on your user account at 'download overview').

Some charts were revised totally with (among others) new depth images. Adjusted are among others the Eemsmond to Bremen, the Elbemond to Hamburg and the North-East channel to Kiel. These are the charts: D004, D005, D006, D0042_2, D042c, D044, D044a and D048a. Recommended for at least the Baltic Sea travellers.

After downloading and installing the charts, you need to update them with DKW Manager to implement the changes that were made before (among others D002). The update for the revised D004 chart will probably come out next week with a Notices to Mariners of the 1800 series.

After installing the ANWB water sport accommodations 2009, the marinas, renters, sailing schools and other accommodations from the ANWB Water almanac (part 2) are able to be projected on your digital water chart. By clicking on the icon you are can see what accommodations are available. Extra information can be obtained by clicking on the website link.

To be able to see this, you need to update your WinGPS version. This is done easily trough the menu in the program. Click on 'help' and then 'check for updates'. There is an update available for every PC version of our program.

In addition, the updates of WinGPS 4 Navigator,Pro and Voyager offer a handy selection filter. This allows you to (among others) only show all icons where you can tank diesel or all camp sites at the water with a trailer slip.

The database ANWB water sport accommodations is only available as a download version in our online shop. In our stores in Heeg and Utrecht we can install them on your laptop as well. This wonderful addition to your ANWB or DKW 1800 series normally costs €14.95.

First Update German Bight 2009

As of today, the 1st update of our new DKW German Bight 2009 is available. It is a bit later than was expected, because of the agreement that had to be made with the BSH concerning the update-procedure. Also, there had to be made up for a large amount of weeks.

Because of that, only the most important changes have been made to the D002 and D004 charts. All the changes will be applied with our next update. These chart sets are easily updated using DKW Manager or trough WinGPS, as it is with the DKW 1800 series.

Updates for WinGPS 4 Lite, Navigator, Pro and Voyager

We recommend license holders of all WinGPS 4 programs to install the new May 26 updates. Simply use the 'search for update' option under Help in the Menu or use the download overview option of your account. The latest versions all incl. a new English helpfile:

WinGPS 4 Lite: v4.1.8.0
WinGPS 4 Navigator: v4.2.7.0
WinGPS 4 Pro: v4.2.7.0
WinGPS 4 Voyager: v4.0.12.0

Now also virtual Com ports are supported. This means you can use a program like Eterlogic VSPE (freeware) to use a GPS in more than one program simultaneously (fe. WinGPS, PC Navigo).

The logbook has been speeded up. Default the latest entries are shown on the top. For Automatic logging the columns can now be defined using all input parameters. For Pro and Voyager this includes heading, depth and more. 

The activation screen has been updated allowing you to enter your account e-mail address for activation on new systems, instead of using your old username. Now also the Italian language can be selected under File/Properties/Region.Besides the general modifications mentioned above, the following new options have been developed for Pro and Voyager:

- The 2009 tidal database for the Netherlands has been implemented. Previously a patch has to be installed.

- The new Tide station manager under Navigation allows the import of TDC files of f.e. WXTides32. You can use this option to show tidal stations graphs of our new DKW German Bight and DKW English East Coast. See figure on the right.

- Direct under NMEA Monitor you will find a new option Text messages. It can show NMEA Text messages (TXT), NMEA Alarm status messages (ALR) and AIS-messages like Safety Related Messages (SRM) and messages for other ships.

The new DKW English East Coast chart set also contains the track charts for the North Sea and the Channel. The 2009 chart set covers the area of the 3 day surge forecast North Sea of the BSH which you can download into WinGPS 4 PRO or Voyager by using Grib control.

The chart sets contain all detailed charts of the English East Coast such as the Thames up to London and all estuary. About 75% of the charts have been updated in April. There will be free updates in July and in September. If you choose to turn off the track charts, the English East Coast will connect to the DKW 1800 series and the DKW German Bight 2009 seamlessly.

First BaZ (NtM) Updates available for the DKW1800/2009

The first BaZ (NtM) updates for the DKW1800 edition 2009 are now available. This update only includes the permanent notices. Still valid P (modification announcement) and T (temporary) notices will follow as soon as possible.

The first updates for the DKW German Bight are expected next week.

You can update your charts like older editions using DKW Manager. Choose the 'Update' option. From WinGPS this is possible from the menu 'Charts'->'Update charts'.

You will find an overview of these updates and the possibility to subscribe to the BaZ Update Mailing on the BaZ Update Service page.

New IJsselmeer and Zeeland charts for ANWB 2009-

The 2009/2010 editions of Chart Y ( Ijsselmeer) and chart Z ( Zeeland) are now replacing the 2007 charts in the digital ANWB chart sets 2009. The 2009/2010 sets are now available as a free download.

You can install the new and uninstall the old Y and Z charts, using DKW Manager.

Mind you: this only applies to the 2009 version!  There is an advantegous upgrade for ANWB 2008 The Netherlands  available in our online shop.

Stentec DKW international replaces Navkom Eurosea

The Eurosea chart sets are not being published by Navkom as DKW2 chart sets any longer.  Safety-wise, we find it important to offer the most recent charts available. Preferably containing an online Update Service, like the DKW1800 series.  For that reason, the Navkom chart sets from 2008 and older have been removed from our online shop.

For travels around the Netherlands, Stentec is now producing international chart sets , that include the online Update Service.  The DKW German Bight 2009 (under BSH license) is a new addition.  We are preparing to release the English East coast 2009 under UKHO license. It will be available soon on a cd-rom or as an advantageous download in our online shop.

You may click on the figure to your right, to see a recent overview of the DKW2 coverage area  ( f.l.t.r. UK1, 1800 series, ANWB and German Bight). Also shown is the 3 day sweep expectation Northsea of the BSH. Alterations may be made to the above.

If you are traveling further we can supply you with the newest editions from NV-Verlag, like the NV 1-4 combipacks of the Eastern Sea ( chart set with cd-rom). WinGPS supports the nv.digital format. After you register the nv.digital charts, they can easily be installed as BSB using DKW Manager. These charts will form one whole together with the other DKW2 charts.

DKW1800/2009 edition released

The 2009 edition of our DKW 1800 series is now available in our online shop. It comes with an easy setup and WinGPS Lite on a cd-rom or as an advantageous download.

There is an 2009 Upgrade Special with all 8 sets especially for license holders of the DKW1800 Complete, North, South of 4 different chart sets of the 2008 edition.

The new release offers you a good opportunity to replace your charts with the newest charts, because safety always should come first for boat and crew. Nobody likes to be confronted with sudden changes, especially during low visibility or strong wind.

The BaZ (Notices to Mariners) Update Service ( which usually occur once every 2 weeks) is valid until march of 2010. Several thousands of water sporters are already using this.

If you are a 2009 license holder, you can register for free, with the BaZ mailing list. If you do, you will receive an email when there is a new BaZ update for the DKW1800 series or the German Bight 2009.
